What to do after seeing New York go from red to green on the adoptee rights map? It comes down, as always, to you.
We need advocates and allies in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, and Virginia
We expect a flurry of legislative activity in a number of states this coming session, particularly after New York has enacted unrestricted equal rights legislation for all adult adoptees. While Florida and Massachusetts are already in play, we are calling on adoptees, allies, and supporters to sign up here to get more involved, especially if you are an adoptee or resident from one of the following states:
- District of Columbia
- Maryland
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Texas
- Virginia
We Don’t Just Need You. We Need Each Other
Get the most up-to-date information on legislative activity in every state, plus regular updates about national efforts to enact the Adoptee Citizenship Act
We also encourage adoptees and others connected to Texas to join us and support the Texas Adoptee Rights Coalition (TXARC). Though the next legislative session in Texas does not start until 2021, organizing work is already moving forward there.
Don’t see your state on our current priority list? Still get in touch with us. And especially to help spread the word about equal rights issues, whether that involves state legislation or federal legislation related to U.S. citizenship. We will always need each other for what we do and accomplish.
