Adoptees United is dedicated to building and supporting adoptee rights coalitions throughout the United States to educate and advocate on issues important to all adopted people.
Active Coalitions
Adoptees United has provided resources, materials, and education on issues involving more than ten states and five coalitions. It has also provided resources and materials for organizations in Georgia, Minnesota, and numerous other states.
New York Adoptee Rights Coalition
NYARC was the lead coalition and organization in securing New York’s new law, which has restored the right of all New York-born adult adoptees to request and obtain their own original birth records.
Capitol Coalition for Adoptee Rights
National and state organizations are working together to advocate for legislative changes in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, with active bills in Maryland and Virginia currently or in the past.
New England Adoptee Rights Coalition
NEAR and its partner organizations secured Vermont’s new equal rights law and supported further legislative change in Massachusetts.
Michigan Adoptee Rights Coalition
With current active bills in Michigan, MARC is leading efforts to secure equality for all Michigan-born adult adopted people
Texas Adoptee Rights Coalition
TXARC has been a leader in pursuing equal rights legislation in the last three legislative sessions, building on the leadership of advocates like Shawna Hodgson, who has been involved in Texas efforts for nearly a decade.
