Please join us on October 5, 2021, to discuss diversity, inclusion, and belonging in the adoptee community, the first in a series of discussions about who is—and who should be—heard, included, and welcomed within adoptee rights work and issues.
Adoptees United has committed to a board and an active adoptee community that represents diversity, inclusion, and belonging (DIB). But what does that mean? Already the board has answered a series of internal questions to begin its own process of hard-wiring diversity, inclusion, and belonging within the organization’s work. Those three questions were:
- What does Diversity mean and how do you envision it within the adoptee community?
- What does Inclusion mean and how do you see the adoptee community becoming more inclusive?
- What comes to mind for Belonging and how do we live that and represent it in the work we all do, either as an organization, on behalf of adoptees, or for our own adoption-related work?
AU board member Erica Babino, who is the Adoptees United Leader of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, will present on the issue and facilitate an open discussion of what DIB means, how you answer each of the three questions above, and what we can all do as a community to make DIB a genuine reality in our work, lives, and advocacy.
