An Adoptees United workshop, presented by its Citizenship Clinic
Replacing a lost or destroyed Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization is not hard—if you know what you are doing. This DIY workshop, led by attorney Gregory Luce of the AU Citizenship Clinic, will walk through the process of applying for a replacement certificate in cases where the original certificate has been lost, stolen, or destroyed— or if a name change on a new replacement certificate is needed.
When: Tuesday, March 3, 2026
Time: 4:30pm PST/6:30pm CST/7:30pm EST
Registration is open to adoptees only
The workshop will provide step-by-step instructions on how to complete and file Form N-565 online, and will provide sample documents, how to apply for a fee waiver, and the present difficulty in changing gender markers on replacement certificates.
IMPORTANT. This is not a workshop about applying for a Certificate of Citizenship for the first time, which is done with Form N-600. This event is for learning how to apply to replace a lost, stolen, or destroyed certificate— or applying to change your name on a current certificate. We are also not providing individualized legal advice. The event will provide general information about the N-565, how to complete it, and what to expect as part of the application process.
Register
This is a strictly adoptee only event. Please respect this requirement. If you are not an adoptee and want to support this work, please consider giving to the Citizenship Clinic.
